Frequently asked questions about vintage wedding dresses

Are they really all vintage?
Apart from a few dresses that have been made from original vintage lace to patterns from the same period all the dresses are original vintage.

Do you make dresses?
We make a few exceptional pieces from original vintage lace using patterns from the same period.

Do you do alterations?
Alterations to a dress purchased from Abigail’s Vintage Bridal are gladly undertaken.

Can you alter my dress for me?
No. However, if you have an heirloom dress that you would like to wear for your wedding day, then we are happy to offer a consultation to see what might be possible.

Are all the dresses tiny?
No, well, some are quite small actually. The average size is a modern size 8. There are bigger dresses of course, and alterations are often possible to make dresses bigger if necessary. We have altered dresses up to about a size 16/18, but alterations are very much dependant on the dress.

I’m getting married next month, can you help?!
Yes. Our turnaround times can be very quick if needs be and we can get dresses ready more quickly if necessary.

I’ve got a vintage wedding dress, do you buy dresses?
Sometimes. We are replenishing stock all the time but we are really super picky and buy less than 10% of what we see. Do drop us an email with some current pictures of the dress and we’ll let you know what we think.
